Food Safety
Anyone who works with food has a major responsibility, both legally and morally to ensure that their consumers are protected.
The Food Safety Legislation is all about setting and managing standards so that you don’t have to have knowledge of how the grain for your flour or the soya beans for your tofu were grown and processed.
At Kialla Pure Foods all staff have a good knowledge of the Food Safety Standards. They are encouraged to pursue additional education and skills in this area as a measure of continued improvement and monitoring.
Batch Numbers
All grains and ingredients at the time of Receival at Kialla Pure Foods are given a unique batch number. As the grain or ingredient passes through the differing processes this unique batch number is extended to reflect where in the processing line it is. We call that a line number. This system allows full traceability from the end product back to the grower.
Different certification grains (A, In Conversion, NOP) are segregated in separate silos clearly marked to show the differing certification. Before these grains are moved into any of the processing areas a full and complete clean down of machinery and equipment is completed. This clean down is fully documented and ensures no cross contamination.
Testing
All the grain growers for Kialla Pure Foods are certified organic by various AQIS accredited bodies. Like Kialla Pure Foods, these growers undergo audits annually to ensure that all their processes and procedures are documented, traceable and compliant with the National Standards.
Kialla Pure Foods has strict procedures for the testing of grains that are received. At the time the grain arrives on site a protein, moisture, Hectare Litre weight and screening test is completed in house. These results allow us to know immediately if the grain is to our high standards and can be accepted. A further residue tests is completed on each type of grain received through the year.
The above measures taken by Kialla Pure Foods are only some of the procedures in place to ensure the highest standard of product possible.
